It’s been a long day, you’re hungry, and you’re exhausted. Cook? Pfffft. Wash dishes?? Nope. Have someone deliver hot, gooey pizza to your front door? Yep.
As much as I love to cook, Vocelli Pizza is a savior on those days when I just can’t be bothered. They feature artisan style pizza with a cracker-thin crust and toppings like steak, artichokes, capicola, and baby spinach with sauces such as white garlic, pesto sauce, and traditional red pizza sauce.
I ordered on a day when they were running a 2-for-1 special, so I tried the Philly Steak and Quattro Cheese. The pizza arrived quickly; and, I almost forgot to take pictures before diving in.
Let’s start with the Philly Steak. The white garlic sauce was pungent but not overpowering, fresh, smooth and creamy. The steak was seasoned well and sliced thin enough to avoid being chewy but thick enough to sense its texture. Topped with earthy mushrooms, crunchy red onions, salty Pecorino Romano and gooey mozzarella, the tomatoes added a nice acidity that cut through and made you want just one more slice, please. It was like eating a gourmet Philly cheesesteak sub.
The Quattro cheese was cheesier than any cheese lover’s or six cheese pizza you’ve ever had. I lifted the lid expecting the typical cheesy pizza and was audibly stunned, which is rare. The combination of cheeses on this pizza leaves a memorable first impression on the palate. Featuring mozzarella, feta, Pecorino Romano, and cheddar, this is not the kind of cheese pizza you get for kids and 20 of their friends. This is an adult’s cheese pizza. A beginning turophile should add this to their list of pizzas to try.
Vocelli Pizza is not your typical delivery chain… and I can’t wait to enjoy the leftovers.
