Where my eco-chic ladies at? These days, it’s all about those hot-button words: organic, gluten-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, hypoallergenic… you get it. We all want the very best out of our products, and who can blame us? You can get the same fantastic result without damaging your skin, and you don’t have to go to your local Whole Foods to get it. More and more mainstream makeup lines are going green. Let’s dive into these 5 beautiful brands.
1. Physician’s Formula
I’m gonna go ahead and get this one out of the way. It was my go-to in high school, and is still an ol’ reliable. It’s affordable and effective. Physician’s Formula can be found in most drug stores, so it’s great for my green gals and my divas on a budget.
Here’s a fact about your lip products you never wanted to know- you ingest about 50% of what you put on your lips. Have you ever thought about what really goes into your lipstick? Bite Beauty has, and that’s why they’ve made all of their lip color organic. If you accidentally eat some of your lipstick, (which you will) it’s completely safe.
Juice Beauty hit the shelves a couple of years ago, and it’s been flying off them ever since! Their hero product is the Green Apple Peel. It’s a deep exfoliant that helps to get rid of fine lines and acne over time. Their products include makeup and skincare, so you have all your organic necessities in one brand.
Not only is this brand organic, but they’re fair-trade as well. They buy many of their products from 3rd- world countries and give jobs to the citizens there. They offer fair pay and excellent working conditions. As a bonus, their products smell amazing and work great! Check outthis video on their policies.
This brand is my all-time favorite. It’s mostly skincare, but they have a BB Cream that I absolutely die over. The greatest part about them is their packaging process. Everything is made in what’s called “The Clean Room,” meaning their entire product line is untouched by human hands until you open it at home. They’re all-natural and they leave you looking great! You can’t beat it!
But Kelsey, WHY didn’t you mention Bare Minerals?
You’ll now hear a groan from every makeup artist ever; this brand is not an artist’s favorite. It’s basically a brand that had some excellent marketing, and customers now seriously freak out over it. It is all-natural… but then again, so is dirt. If you use the correct combination of products, you can get some coverag. Will it cure cancer, like some customers seem to think? No. (Actually, some studies show it might cause it, when inhaled daily during makeup application over several years.) But it gets the job done. Just don’t expect miracles.
