No one was more thrilled than I was to hear that there is a brand new film featuring the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on the horizon. I vividly remember watching the series premiere when I was in the first grade, and owe a lot of my skills as a video editor to staying up late, editing clips of the show from old VHS tapes into new creations. Now a whole new generation gets to experience the magic, albeit in a new way.

Heres what Saban had to say:

“They [Lionsgate] have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from ‘The Hunger Games’ to ‘Twilight’ and ‘Divergent,’” Saban said. “In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we’re confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own.”

In honor of this auspicious occasion, here are our five favorite moments from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie.
