“Beyonce, your order is ready!”
“Fried green beans for Joan Jett!”
“Spiked milkshake, I got a spiked milkshake for Oprah Winfrey.”
No, we aren’t at a star-studded awards event (though I’m glad that’s where your mind went first), we’re at the Deep Ellum location ofTwisted Root, a hamburger joint
where they give you a celebrity name when you put in your food order.
The hamburger has been a staple of the American diet for decades. With new fast food and gourmet burger joints opening on almost every corner, it is sometimes a daunting task to separate the average from the delicious. Working downtown, I was introduced to one of the best burger restaurants in the DFW. Here are the top three reasons why Twisted Root will change your life (and expand your waistband).
When you are looking for a quick bite, the atmosphere does not matter. However, when you are looking to invest an hour of your night in a restaurant, you want it to be a place you can enjoy. From the quippy bumper stickers and jokes on the walls, to the novel way they go about letting you know your order is ready (assigning you a celebrity name instead of a number, as mentioned above), Twisted Root is not only delicious, but a fun place to be as well.
The atmosphere, the condiments (they have custom ketchup), milkshakes, homemade root beer and the other cool things about Twisted Root are great, but they mean nothing without a good burger. I challenge you to find a better made burger in the DFW than those at Twisted Root (no really, please let me know if you find a better one). Not only are the burgers delicious, but Twisted Root serves burgers you cannot find elsewhere. Along with traditional beef patties, Twisted Root seasonally serves the exotic game listed below:
Guy Fieri Said So
If the co-sign from me isn’t enough, Guy Fieri, television personality and restaurateur, has featured Twisted Root on his Food Network program, “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”. The pros love this place, and you will too.
These are just a few of the reasons that Twisted Root is one of the most awesome places you can go to eat in Dallas. I encourage you to give it a shot, and find your own reasons that Twisted Root deserves a spot in the Burger Hall of Fame.
